With this new situation, Simon didn't mind the cold as much as he expected to, though he still admittedly preferred a warmer environment - one with soil under his feet rather than snow.

He counted it as a small blessing, then, when he found an area in the upper levels of North's Workshop where there were things growing. Food for the yetis, it looked like. There was a setup of some sort where they were magnifying what sun they could get up here to aid the plants' growth.

Simon stooped by the edge of the makeshift field, reaching one hand down to the dirt. He didn't dig around quite as much as he used to, and he likely wouldn't be able to do much of it here, but hey. Small comforts.

After a bit of idle working, a small patch of soil about the size of his open hand was tilled. A bit of it was scooped into his hand to get a closer look, though right before he was about to drop it back where it came from, his palm began to glow a bright green. It was nigh instantaneous - the light left his palm and entered the bit of ground in his hand. The unexpected reaction startled Simon, and caused him to drop it much faster than he had intended, scattering it across the area he'd been poking at. In short order, the glowing bits of earth sprouted up into pastel-petaled flowers.

Boota had been watching from the folds of the hood on Simon's head, and made an excited noise at the development. The little pigmole hopped out, investigating the newly-sprouted plants to confirm that they actually existed, and was followed by Simon's hand gently prodding them.

"Well, I'll be..."

Reading, Berkshire, was one of the larger towns in Britain, but this was also because of the myth population living quietly alongside the humans. There were very few that believed in fairies anymore, but some old superstitions had still endured the passing of time, and that was enough for the hobs to get by.

They were used to a quiet life there, and were usually untroubled by the outside world - or even the world of humans they lived side by side with.

At least until all this nonsense with the fearlings started. Everyone in the myth world knew that change was happening and it was a change for the worse rather than the better. When word eventually came that most of the Guardians had been captured by this evil force, by this Kuk, they knew the world was in trouble.

If the Guardians couldn't stand against them, then who could?

This was why, when the sky crack with lightning and opened him and a strange...thing fell down through it, cracking the asphalt where it landed, in the middle of their community's market, their first reaction was fear.

"What is it?"

"I don't know."

"Looks a bit like them human contraptions, it does."

"It can't be human, it fell out of the sky. And it's covered in slime."

"Don't touch it! Everyone stay back!"

The strange metal thing, whatever it was, suddenly sat up, staring at them all with an empty void of a face, before turning in one direction, running forward and smashing the facade of a building like it was nothing more than tissue paper.

"Everyone, clear out, take shelter! Blin, see if you can get find one of the tooth fairies to take a message to the Guardians! There are usually a few about."

"On it!"

The strange metal creature seemed to try to speak to them but the words were in a language alien to them and it sounded hostile.

Then it turned and went back to its rampage. Oddly, it didn't seem to be attacking any of them and all the damage to the buildings was more cosmetic than anything, but there was no telling if that would hold true for long - or if the creature would limit itself to just their settlement. If it laid into the town, with all its crowds of humans and larger buildings...

*"You're all in danger! You need to take shelter immediately!"

They'd had a few days to get settled in. In that time, the Yetis and Elves had been nothing but welcoming, making sure the gang had a never-ending supply of treats, cocoa, and eggnog, as well as more wholesome food to nosh on. Even though they had work to do - and seemed to enjoy doing it - the Yetis had been helpful in getting them all settled in, into rooms specially designed to each of their specifications. If anything had a want or need of something, like new clothes, or a new pair of shoes, they'd been quick to provide.

Jack and Bunny had done their part to make the new folks feel welcome, as well, by showing them around and socializing, but they'd been in and out constantly during the last few days. Some of the times they'd come back in, they'd looked a touch on this side of ragged.

True to their word, despite the fact that they'd been busy putting out fires caused by Kuk and Its minions, they had reached out to a few contacts of theirs to see about helping the others get home.

That was why Jack was gathering them all up on the balcony in front of the globe.

"Okay, guys, we have some good news. We managed to get in touch with an ally of ours. We think she can give us more information about what exactly you are. Like...how much you were changed to be like us, how the mechanics of the world have changed to pull you in. It might give us some headway in figuring out how to get you back home. She wants to meet you."
